CSU - Teach Science!

The Science Secondary Education Program at CSU prepares students to enter High School Science Teaching and engage in innovative instruction utilizing inquiry based teaching techniques and active engagement.

Our program has benefited from strong collaborations between the Department of Biology and the Department of Chemistry Physics and Engineering Studies and collaborative efforts between the College of Education and the College of Arts and Sciences.

Our program has also benefited from having a Teacher in Residence, collaborations with local High School Teachers (at ChiArts, Brooks, Gary Comer College Prep), TYC Faculty (at Harold Washington, Malcolm X, and Olive Harvey), and faculty engaged in innovative pedagogy and discipline based education research in Astronomy, Chemistry, and Physics.

Funding to support our innovative science education program has come from the Illinois Board of Higher Education, the National Science Foundation, and the American Physical Society PhysTEC Program.
